GOLDBECK SOLAR and RheinEnergie open 32 MWp solar park in Lärz/Rechlin

GOLDBECK SOLAR celebrates the opening of the Lärz/Rechlin solar park together with RheinEnergie. The opening ceremony took place on June 4, 2024 in the presence of official representatives of the state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and numerous partners from the energy sector.

With a total capacity of 32 MWp, the Lärz/Rechlin solar plant will generate enough clean electricity to supply around 10,000 households. A total of 56,800 bifacial Canadian Solar modules were installed on an area of over 30 hectares. A highlight of this project is the integration of a battery storage system from energy storage provider INTILION with a capacity of 7 MWh, which means that the electricity generated is also available when solar radiation is low or at night. Around 20 MWp of the system is subsidized under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), which makes the combination of solar system and 7 MWh battery storage particularly attractive. This pioneering combination underlines the future viability of energy storage solutions.

The location of the solar park on the grounds of the Müritz Airpark posed special challenges for the planning. As part of the runway is still in operation, special requirements from the Federal Aviation Authority, such as glare hazards and distances, had to be taken into account. In addition, the inhomogeneous subsoil due to former bombing posed a static challenge, which is why the substructure of the modules was anchored 2.5 meters deep throughout.

“We at GOLDBECK SOLAR are very pleased about the renewed successful cooperation with RheinEnergie. We are proud to have completed the Lärz/Rechlin solar park on schedule despite the challenges in planning and construction. It makes a significant contribution to the promotion of renewable energies and climate protection. The electricity generated will supply around 10,000 households with green electricity and significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The integration of the battery storage system once again underlines the important role of energy storage systems in making the expansion of renewable energies even more efficient and sustainable,” explains Tobias Schüßler, COO of GOLDBECK SOLAR GmbH.
