Second solar plant in Mexico: GOLDBECK SOLAR builds for the industrial sector in Querétaro

As part of its projects for 2021, GOLDBECK SOLAR is about to finalize the construction of its second solar plant in Mexico, this time for the industrial sector. The project, with an investment volume of 680,000 dollars, is located in the Querétaro Industrial Park, in the area of Santa Rosa Jauregui, in the capital of the state of Querétaro.

The system with tracking systems and bifacial panels has an installed capacity of 499 kwac/554 kWp and 1.3 MWh/year, with a generation capacity of 2,344 kWh/kWp/year.

Querétaro: Project for Mann+Hummel

The project, in which SMA Core 1 invertersare installed, consists of 1,440 panels and thus achieves a saving of more than half a ton of CO2 per year. The plant is being built for the German company Mann+Hummel (M&H), which manufactures filter systems. According to forecasts, the work will be completed in around ten weeks.

Advantages in energy

The development of the new GOLDBECK SOLAR plant is characterized by the commitment and responsibility towards the customer, scrupulously complying with the permits and operating licenses with all the authorities involved; as well as the corresponding Health and Safety (H&S) regulations, including the most specific measures established in relation to the Covid-19 health situation. The land on which the Queretaro project is located is not additionally used within the industrial park. The operation of the work by the company is carried out day by day without interfering with production. The payback period is less than five years.

Decentralized use

In addition, the system’s modern technology enables 25% more electricity to be generated compared to a permanently installed single-area panel infrastructure, with the electricity generated intended for self-consumption with the option of connection to the distribution grid (decentralized generation). With the construction of this solar system, M&H therefore achieves very clear and important advantages in terms of energy costs. As an innovative company, it also achieves greater electrical independence by using these systems, as the energy is fed directly into its plant. The company took advantage of the scheme, which makes it possible to set up a solar installation in a short space of time without the need for a generation permit and also offers significant tax benefits. As for the region, the municipality of Querétaro, where the plant is being built, has a microclimate with radiation levels similar to the Atacama Desert in Chile, which creates ideal conditions for the installation of this type of technology. In addition, the Querétaro Industrial Park is located on Highway 57 Querétaro – San Luis Potosí, one of the main communication routes in Mexican territory.

The second plant in Mexico

GOLDBECK SOLAR’s first project in Mexico, the Autódromo solar park, was completed in November 2020. The solar plant is located in the municipality of Villa de Zaragoza in the state of San Luis Potosí, also in the center of the country. GOLDBECK SOLAR is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Two decades of work and success in the development of technology for the use of sustainable energy.
