GOLDBECK SOLAR is building its largest solar project in Germany for Blue Elephant Energy GmbH
Hirschberg a. d. Bergstraße, May 6, 2026 – GOLDBECK SOLAR continues to drive the expansion of renewable energy in Germany and is undertaking the implementation of its largest solar project to date in Germany with the Schafhöfen Solar Park. The large-scale project is being developed in the municipality of Mötzing, in the district of Schafhöfen (Bavaria), and will have a planned capacity of 268 megawatts peak (MWp).
The client and investor is Blue Elephant Energy GmbH, an internationally active investment company focused on renewable energy. The project company is BEE Solarpark Schafhöfen GmbH & Co. KG. As the EPC partner, GOLDBECK SOLAR is responsible for the turnkey implementation of the project.
Major project sending a strong signal for Germany as a solar hub
The Schafhöfen Solar Park is one of the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic projects in Germany. The plant will be constructed as a fixed-tilt south-facing system. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May 21, 2026, and the planned start of operations is set for September 2027.
Once operational, the solar park will generate approximately 296,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. This will provide climate-friendly energy to roughly 147,000 households and save approximately 200,000 tons of CO₂ annually.
High technical requirements and scaled implementation
The project will utilize photovoltaic modules from Trina Solar (type TSM-NEG21.C.20) as well as SMA inverters of the MVPS 4.400 type. The project is being financed with the participation of Commerzbank.
With a capacity of over 268 MWp, the project places high demands on planning, logistics, and coordination. GOLDBECK SOLAR brings its many years of experience in implementing large-scale solar projects to bear here, laying the foundation for efficient and on-time completion.
Added value for the investor, the region, and climate goals
The Schafhöfen solar park supports the investor’s ESG and climate goals while also making a significant contribution to the energy transition in Germany. Furthermore, the project strengthens regional value creation and contributes to the long-term stabilization of the electricity supply.
With the Schafhöfen solar park, GOLDBECK SOLAR underscores its role as a reliable EPC partner for complex large-scale projects and sends a strong signal for the further expansion of renewable energies in the German energy market.
