The largest solar project of its kind has been completed in the Netherlands. 146 MWp of power will be generated by the Stadskanaal and Buinerveen solar parks for Dutch households.
The Stadskanaal solar park was realized within a construction period of ten months for the customer Astronergy Chint. The German company built 101 MWp. “What is unique is that, in conjunction with the 45 MWp Buinerveen project ten kilometers away, a total of 146 MWp of power will be connected to a grid connection that feeds directly into Tennet’s high-voltage grid,” explains Head of Solar Netherland Tobias Friedrich. This makes it the largest solar project of its kind in the BeNeLux.
Technically, this was very complex, as there is a Lofar (low-frequency array) facility close to the site in Buinerveen, which made it necessary “not to exceed certain radiation and noise levels. We have never built anything like this before,” Friedrich explains.
GOLDBECK SOLAR is thus making a not insignificant contribution to the expansion of renewable energies in the Netherlands. Like Germany, the Netherlands has also set itself the goal of doing without conventional energy sources by 2030.
Since entering the market in 2017, the German company has installed 460 MWp of capacity in the Netherlands and now supplies around 160,000 households with green electricity. By the end of 2020, two more smaller projects will be handed over with Veendam 3 and Goes.
