The GOLDBECK SOLAR Group from Hirschberg has received the TOP 100 seal 2024 as part of the Joachim Goldbeck Holding. This award is only given to particularly innovative medium-sized companies. Science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar will personally congratulate GOLDBECK SOLAR on this success at the award ceremony on June 28 in Weimar. Yogeshwar has accompanied the TOP 100 innovation competition as a mentor for twelve years.
On behalf of compamedia, the organizer of the competition, innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and his team examined the innovative strength of all participants on the basis of more than 100 criteria from five categories: Innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovative processes and organization, external orientation/open innovation and innovation success. “Are the companies able to create new products, new services, new processes and business models? And are these achievements just coincidences or the result of a structured and targeted approach? These are the questions we examine at TOP 100,” says Nikolaus Franke, explaining his approach to the review. It is also important how and whether innovations and product improvements have been able to establish themselves on the market.
As part of the Joachim Goldbeck Holding, GOLDBECK SOLAR has prevailed in the scientific selection process and is one of the top innovators for the first time. The GOLDBECK SOLAR Group specializes in the turnkey construction of large photovoltaic power plants for open spaces or industrial and commercial roofs. The range of services covers the entire value chain from project development and financing to the construction and integration of storage technologies, the technical operation and asset management of the plants and the direct sale of clean energy. GOLDBECK SOLAR focuses on innovation: in 2023, the company launched a new innovation department, which represents a significant milestone in its long-standing corporate strategy.
Through its innovations, GOLDBECK SOLAR is significantly driving the transition to a sustainable energy market. Together with renowned research institutes such as the Fraunhofer ITWN, the company is working to continuously improve products, develop new analysis systems for its customers and participate in research projects. Examples of this include the Solarplanner, a holistic optimization tool that combines the entire engineering process in a single software package, and the Modular Arc System (MARCS), which, unlike conventional solar systems, has an arc-shaped design and is therefore ideal for use in agri-PV systems.

To ensure equal opportunities, the TOP 100 seal is awarded in three size categories: up to 50, 51 to 200 and more than 200 employees. In the 31st edition of the innovation competition, 388 SMEs applied for the award. 287 were successful and have carried the TOP 100 seal since February 1, 2024. 100 companies can be awarded per size category.
On June 28, all of the top innovators of the year 2024 will gather at the “congress centrum weimarhalle” for the award ceremony as part of the German SME Summit.
