Agethorst solar park

A solar park with 70.9 MWp was built on an area of 80 hectares in Agethorst and technically commissioned in May 2024. The plant supplies around 75,600 MWh of renewable energy per year, supplies around 18,000 households and avoids around 30,000 tons of CO₂. The grid connection is via an approximately 6 km long route; 16 transformer stations ensure a stable and segmented feed-in.

Initial situation & objectives

The aim was to quickly implement a large-scale PV site with high availability and grid efficiency. The construction phase took place during predominantly wet winter months with high groundwater levels, which made the logistics and foundation work challenging. The schedule was adhered to thanks to forward-looking construction phase planning, robust route concepts and close interface management.

Location & grid integration

The site allows for clear parcelling and short maintenance routes. The ~ 6 km long grid connection and the 16 decentralized stations support low-loss transformation, uniform feed-in and reliable segmentation for service and monitoring.

Technical solution & implementation

Highly efficient modules were used for the site in order to maximize efficiency and yield stability throughout the year. The installation of 123,500 modules in eight months demonstrates the high pace of the construction processes. Quality assurance and HSE ran parallel to assembly, cable pulling, station construction and grid connection.

Result & added value

The Agethorst solar park delivers predictably high energy yields and serves as a blueprint for large-scale PV developments with longer grid connections and challenging construction weather windows. The combination of modern technology, a structured EPC approach and resilient grid integration ensures economic stability and ecological impact.
