Construction Begins on the Benzenloch Solar Park: GOLDBECK SOLAR Installs First Module

Hirschberg, June 30, 2026 – With the symbolic installation of the first solar module, GOLDBECK SOLAR has officially launched construction of the Benzenloch solar park near Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The company was commissioned by Solarpark Benzenloch GmbH, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Neustadt an der Weinstraße, to handle the planning, construction, and turnkey implementation of the ground-mounted photovoltaic system.

A facility with an installed capacity of 26.859 megawatts peak (MWp) is being built on an area of approximately 24 hectares. The solar park is complemented by a battery storage system with a capacity of 10 megawatts (MW) and a storage capacity of 20 megawatt-hours (MWh), which GOLDBECK SOLAR is also implementing. In addition, GOLDBECK SOLAR is constructing the approximately 5.7-kilometer-long external medium-voltage transmission line to the transfer stations and is thus also responsible for connecting the plant to the grid infrastructure.

By combining photovoltaics with storage, generated solar power can be flexibly stored and fed into the grid as needed. The co-location solution also enables more efficient use of the grid infrastructure and provides additional flexibility in marketing the electricity, for example in conjunction with regional gray electricity needs. This increases the security of supply and supports the integration of renewable energy into the regional energy system.

Following its planned commissioning in spring 2027, the solar park will generate approximately 28,000 megawatt-hours of climate-friendly electricity annually. This is equivalent to the estimated annual electricity needs of about 7,000 four-person households. A total of 42,606 solar modules will be installed.

“The Benzenloch solar park is a technically challenging project of great significance for the region’s energy supply. With its capacity, it will make an important contribution to the expansion of renewable energy in the region. We are pleased to be implementing this project as the EPC partner and to bring our many years of experience in the construction of large-scale ground-mounted systems to bear,” says Stefan Spork, Head of the Central Europe Regional Center at GOLDBECK SOLAR.

The “Benzenloch Photovoltaic Systems” zoning plan established the planning requirements necessary for the project’s implementation. The solar park is being built in the area where the municipalities of Duttweiler, Geinsheim, and Lachen-Speyerdorf meet.

With the start of construction, GOLDBECK SOLAR is continuing its successful collaboration with municipal energy providers and underscoring its role as an experienced partner for the planning and implementation of large-scale photovoltaic projects in Europe.
