Der Solarpark Akadyr in Kasachstan – das Projekt Zwartowo wird doppelt so groß werden.

Respect Energy and GOLDBECK SOLAR are building the largest photovoltaic power plant in Central and Eastern Europe in Pomerania: Green energy for 153,000 households

Respect Energy and GOLDBECK SOLAR have been awarded the contract for a major project in Zwartowo, Poland. Construction of the 300-hectare photovoltaic farm, which will generate 230 GWh of energy from renewable sources per year, will start in the first quarter of 2021.

The Polish energy company Respect Energy and the German group GOLDBECK SOLAR are planning a gigantic project for 2021. On December 14, the partners were awarded the contract for their investment project in Zwartowo at an auction held by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office: a solar park that will supply 153,000 households with green electricity in the future. It will be able to cover the energy needs of roughly as many people as live in a city the size of Gdansk. GOLDBECK SOLAR and Respect Energy – a perfect partnership. Respect Energy S.A. (formerly known as TRMEW Obrót S.A.) specializes in selling energy exclusively from renewable sources. GOLDBECK SOLAR has been committed to the expansion of renewable energy sources beyond its own products and services for 20 years and is now successfully active in 17 countries.

Zwartowo solar park with 203 MW capacity

The strategic partnership will enable the construction of photovoltaic power plants with an output of 350 MW per year – around 1750 MW in just five years. The solar park is to be built in a small town in the Pomeranian Voivodeship on 300 hectares of land, on an area equivalent to the size of 422 soccer pitches. The power plant is expected to generate around 230 GWh of green energy per year. This would reduce CO2 emissions by around 5 million tons over the next 30 years. The project is expected to achieve an output of 203 MW. Once construction is complete, it will be worth around 200 million euros. “The Polish energy market offers great development opportunities in the field of renewable energies. We are very pleased about the strategic cooperation with Respect Energy as a partner, which is also approaching this new market with determination and strength. The entire industry needs innovative solutions. We believe that working together on our project in such a good atmosphere will soon lead to follow-up projects,” said Joachim Goldbeck, President of GOLDBECK SOLAR.

Energy and nature

The project is intended not only to develop the potential of the national niche of renewable energy sources, but also to include the biological activity of the region, e.g. by installing an apiary on the site of the complex. Construction of the PV farm in Pomerania is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2021. In the first quarter of 2022, energy will be generated and supplied to consumers for the first time. It will be the largest complex of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. “The joint venture with GOLDBECK SOLAR marks the development of another area of our business activity,” emphasized Sebastian Jabłoński, President of the Management Board of Respect Energy. “Apart from wholesale on 21 markets, we have undergone a rebranding this year and entered the market very successfully as Respect Energy. We are now starting the construction of our PV power plant in this part of Europe. We are firmly convinced that our projects will directly contribute to achieving full climate neutrality in our country by 2050.”
