Opening ceremony for 50 MW project in Akadyr

Goldbeck Solar opens another solar project in Kazakhstan. With the new Akadyr power plant, Goldbeck Solar has completed another project in Kazakhstan, installing a total of 150 MWp. This means that the company is and remains the market leader for ground-mounted systems in Kazakhstan. The Akadyr solar park was officially connected to the grid at yesterday’s opening ceremony. Well-known personalities from politics and the energy sector were invited as guests.

Short construction time despite challenges

This was Goldbeck Solar’s second project in Kazakhstan. The EPC company from Hirschberg therefore felt well prepared despite the various challenges posed by factors such as climate, long transportation routes and high bureaucratic hurdles. “Thanks to our experience in the Kazakh market, we were aware of the local peculiarities,” explains Raphael Beringer, Project Manager at Goldbeck Solar. “This was of particular benefit to us when it came to logistics and importing the components. But of course we were also able to better assess the climatic conditions and plan accordingly.” One of the biggest challenges for the Akadyr project was certainly the weather conditions – not only for the installation itself, but also when choosing the right components. Not all manufacturers provide products that can withstand the harsh temperatures of around -40 degrees Celsius in winter, which is why only high-quality parts were considered for the project. There were also special conditions to consider during the planning stage. For example, the frozen groundwater in winter required a deeper foundation for the posts of the substructure. Thanks to its experience, Goldbeck Solar was able to complete the construction project in just three months and now celebrate the opening of Akadyr. The transformer station required the most time, while the PV park itself was erected in just 2.5 months. The detailed planning and good cooperation with the local partner companies ensured that all parts were available and installed at the right time.

Opening Akadyr: Sustainability thanks to green energy

The construction of the solar plant has resulted in several benefits for the city of Akadyr. Firstly, the project has created jobs for people from the surrounding area, and secondly, the approximately 150,000 modules with an annual energy production of 82,000 MWh now supply several thousand households in and around Akadyr with green energy. This will save around 500,000 tons of CO2 over the next 15 years. Joachim Goldbeck, Managing Director of Goldbeck Solar, adds: “The Akadyr power plant is an important step in the right direction, particularly in terms of sustainability. With green energy from solar power, immense savings in CO2 emissions can be realized, which can do something good for the environment in the long term.”
