93 MWp of renewable energy to be built in Alberta, Canada. NEOEN, the company holding 100 percent of the shares in the new Fox Coulée solar park, has awarded an EPC contract to GOLDBECK SOLAR for turnkey construction. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Fox Coulée solar park will be NEOEN’s first in North America. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2024. The solar park will supply 20,000 households with clean energy in the future. A major contribution for the province of Alberta and the Canadian government to achieve the target ofCO2 neutrality by 2035.
Fox Coulée: Acting today for tomorrow
Both GOLDBECK SOLAR and NEOEN are making an active contribution to the energy transition: The green electricity generated by the Fox Coulée solar park will avoid the emission of 70,000 tons of carbon dioxide. The park is thus contributing to Alberta’s plan to deploy at least 5 GW of renewable energy by 2030. By the end of the decade, 30 percent of electricity is to be generated from renewable energies and coal-fired power generation is to be phased out at the same time. The collaboration with NEOEN is a significant step towards strengthening GOLDBECK SOLAR’s presence in Canada. The Hirschberg-based company is expanding its commitment to the North American continent and, with the Fox Coulée project, is underlining its intention to become a leading player in Alberta and Canada.
