The Zaratán solar park is a 29 MWp ground-mounted system covering 60 hectares. The plant supplies around 55,000 MWh of renewable energy per year – enough for >18,000 households – and reduces emissions by around 10,000 tons of CO₂/year. As EPC, GOLDBECK SOLAR is responsible for turnkey implementation, from planning and construction to grid connection.
Zaratán solar park
Initial situation & objectives
The aim was to realize a large-scale PV site on schedule with high yield stability and grid integration in a region with above-average solar radiation (7-8 hours of sunshine per day on average). The project is also a new benchmark for GOLDBECK SOLAR in Spain.
Location & Layout
The solar park is being built in the municipality of Valladolid (Castile-León). The site offers favorable irradiation conditions and sufficient space for a maintenance-friendly layout with clear service axes. The bifacial module arrays and the five inverter stations are arranged in such a way that cable routes remain short and operation/monitoring can be segmented.
Technical implementation & construction
The system will be installed with 45,450 bifacial modules, supplemented by 5 inverters. The bifacial design increases the specific yield and ensures yield stability throughout the season. On the EPC side, GOLDBECK SOLAR manages construction coordination, quality assurance and HSE; testing and acceptance processes run parallel to assembly, cabling and station construction.
Result & added value
Zaratán delivers predictable energy yields and significantly supports CO₂ reduction in the region. The combination of a favorable location, bifacial technology and clean EPC implementation creates a scalable blueprint for other large-scale projects in Spain.
- ~ 55,000 MWh/a renewable energy
- Supply of >18,000 households
- ~ 10,000 t CO₂ less per year
- Maintenance-friendly, segmented system design
