Diskussionsrunde “Ethik im Unternehmen” bei rheinmain Wirtschaft mit Dr. Lutz Raettig, Joachim Goldbeck, Anke Seeling und Christoph Dyckerhoff.

Joachim Goldbeck at rheinmain Wirtschaft: “If you want to operate on the market in the long term, you have to be fair and trustworthy”

How important are ethical values for companies today? GOLDBECK-SOLAR CEO Joachim Goldbeck discussed this on Tuesday evening with Dr. Lutz Raettig, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Morgan Stanley Bank AG and Christoph Dyckerhoff, ethics consultant, HR consultant and ethics expert at BDU on the rheinmain Wirtschaft show on rheinmainTV.

“How has your company developed during the coronavirus crisis?” moderator Anke Seeling opened this week’s panel discussion at rheinmain Wirtschaft. Joachim Goldbeck was joined by Dr. Lutz Raettig from J.P. Morgan Stanley Bank and BDU ethics expert Christoph Dyckerhoff. The panel discussed the values that companies are setting for themselves today and how important sustainable thinking is at all levels, not just during the pandemic but in general in today’s world. Joachim Goldbeck was able to paint a very positive picture: “Energy is still needed. Our customers are making long-term investments and the product itself is not affected.” GOLDBECK SOLAR has also felt restrictions in its processes, for example when module deliveries from countries such as China were no longer possible. “But we were able to react well to this.” The company is currently struggling to ensure that employees can really work safely on construction sites – with appropriate hygiene measures. “But these are minor problems,” Goldbeck added.

Acting ethically and sustainably is essential

The fact that GOLDBECK SOLAR is so well positioned is of course due to the fact that clean energy is an issue that affects us all. “If we want to keep the climate as liveable as it is, energy must be made clean.”

“We have to do something about climate overheating. It is causing so much harm to the world. That’s why I hope and believe that politicians and the business world will start thinking more sustainably. Then we will manage to mitigate climate change.”

Trust as a basis

The trust of customers and partners in the operating companies is the basis for changing things together. “I think you have to look at two points with companies: Is the product really good? And: How is the creation process? Are ethical rules being broken?” Customers are attaching more and more importance to companies acting responsibly. As a renewable energy company in particular, you have to set a good example in order to be credible. “From my perspective, trust is the basis of the economy. If there is a lack of trust, customers will not invest in the future,” Joachim Goldbeck is convinced. “Trust arises when you can rely on people. When they behave ethically and don’t act erratically.”
