Construction of the systems with a total output of 42 MWp will start in spring 2023, with parallel completion of the projects scheduled for the end of 2023.
GOLDBECK SOLAR has been awarded the contract to build the largest PV projects in ImWind ‘s history and will be responsible as general contractor for the turnkey construction of the Nickelsdorf solar park in north-eastern Burgenland and the Tauernwind solar park in Styria. With a total output of 42 MWp, the PV systems will supply around 13,000 Austrian households with green solar power and save around 22,000 tons of CO2.
Start of a successful cooperation
Both solar power plants feed electricity into the public distribution grid via existing wind farms and are characterized by the efficient use of the existing grid infrastructure. The hybrid feed-in minimizes the costs for grid expansion, makes optimal use of existing project areas and ensures more consistent power generation. “In GOLDBECK SOLAR, we have found a reliable partner with the necessary expertise for the construction of our PV projects. With the construction of our two new solar parks, we are not only expanding our PV portfolio, but also making a significant contribution to Austria’s energy and supply security,” says Georg Waldner, co-partner and CEO of ImWind.
The largest solar park in the high alpine region
“We are very pleased to be able to support ImWind in the realization of their solar parks. Nickelsdorf and Tauernwind are our first PV projects in Austria and an important milestone for our entry into this promising market. Together, we are creating the energy transition step by step,” confirms Tobias Tacke, Head of the Solar Parks DACH division at GOLDBECK SOLAR. “The construction of the new plant in Styria will create the largest solar park in the high Alpine region. The installed capacity of the existing solar park will be more than quintupled and efficiently integrated into the existing grid infrastructure. This adds another chapter to the 20-year success story of renewable energy in Oberzeiring,” concludes Johannes Trauttmansdorff, founder of ImWind.
About ImWind
ImWind is an Austrian wind power pioneer and is one of the largest producers of renewable energy in Austria. ImWind has been developing, building and operating wind and photovoltaic parks in Austria and abroad for over 25 years. Today, a total of 140 wind power and photovoltaic plants produce around 1 TWh of clean electricity per year for over 300,000 households in Austria. Over the next two years, ImWind will invest over 100 million euros in the expansion of renewable energy and security of supply by building new wind and photovoltaic plants in Austria.
