Solarvation II is the expansion of the first construction phase in Lelystad. The second project with Solarvation is scheduled for completion in summer 2020 and will have an installed capacity of 13.7 MWp.
Extension ready in summer
Even during the first construction phase in Lelystad, the ground presented Goldbeck Solar with special challenges. On the one hand, large areas of old stables and traffic areas were dismantled, and on the other hand, the area on the Wisentweg was still a good 5m below the water surface around 65 years ago. This makes the soil in this region very special in some cases. As a result, additional foundation work was necessary in some areas. In the second construction phase, old stables also had to be demolished. However, the necessary earthworks are expected to be less disruptive than in the first construction phase. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-April/early May. “If there are no major incidents, we will be able to complete the expansion of Lelystad within 3-4 months,” adds Marcel Stöber, Head of Project Management. This means that the extension is expected to be connected to the grid in the course of the summer.
“We were already very satisfied with our first collaboration with Goldbeck Solar,” says Luke Bouwman from Solarvation. “It was therefore clear to us that we would also rely on Goldbeck Solar for the second construction phase.” After completion of the second part, the Lelystad solar park will have a total installed capacity of 41.7 MWp from late summer 2020. The plant can supply over 10,000 households with clean energy. This will reduce CO2 emissions by around 20,000 tons per year.
Citizens as co-investors
A special feature of the Lelystad solar park is that interested parties can purchase a piece of the park from 25 euros via zonnepanelendelen.nl. This gives every citizen the opportunity to participate in sustainable energy generation in Lelystad.
